Let’s Catch Up: March 2016

I’m baaaaaack!

I missed blogging so much and I’m ecstatic to be back! So to kick off my return I thought I should talk about what I’ve been up to since the last time I posted on here.

My last edition of “Let’s Catch Up” was in January, which was a very busy month for me, but I can’t say that March has been as busy.

Not many exciting things have happened to me this month, but one exciting thing was when my class and I went to a Broadway play for culture day.

Every year my school has a designated day in March where every grade goes to somewhere, like a museum or a play, they can experience some sort of culture.

This year my class got to go see a musical on Broadway called, “Bright Star.” At first, everyone in class was reluctant about going because if we were being forced to see a musical on Broadway, we’d all much rather see Hamiltion, but obviously, considering how much that would cost our school, going to see Hamiltion wasn’t an option.

No one expected this, but we all ended up loving Bright Star! It was honestly one of the best productions I have ever seen. I would give this musical 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who wanted to see a Broadway musical.

Here’s a little synopsis of what Bright Star is about in case you were curious.

“Set in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, the musical skips between 1923 and 1945, as young, aspiring writer Billy returns home from the war. Once settled, he meets the brilliant and melancholy Alice Murphy, editor of The Southern Literary Journal. Together, in this sweeping tale of enduring love, they discover a long-hidden secret, that is sure to change their lives forever.”

It was 2 and 1/2 hours long, but I enjoyed every minute of it! Another thing that made this musical so enjoyable was the fact that I knew it was written by one of my favorite actors, Steve Martin! I’ve probably seen about half of the movies he’s ever been in, but I adore him nonetheless, so I was probably one of the only people in my class who was excited to see Bright Star purely based on the fact that it was written by him.

Nothing else that could be considered interesting happened this month, so I don’t really have anything else to talk about. Don’t let my blog fool you; I live a very boring life despite the fact that I live in one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Saturday’s post will be about something fun that happened in February, which I never got to talk about, so look make sure you check it out!

Sincerely,

Shania
